Le Requin

   Book Cover Submarine

Le Requin is a story about two retired brothers, one a former Naval officer and the other a former Engineer, who love the ocean and sailing. After renting a beautiful sailboat in Corpus Christi, Texas, they set out to cross the Gulf of Mexico, sailing and scuba diving along the way. Their ultimate destination is Key West, Florida, where they intend to fish, relax, see the sights, and bask in the South Florida sunshine. Not long after beginning their voyage, they encounter a group of drug smugglers who are using an old submarine and an offshore oil rig supply boat to transport drugs into the United States. The ruthless dictator from a small, Central American country is behind this operation and is not leaving any witnesses to testify against him. When the brother’s sailboat is observed near an abandoned oil derrick being used to help facilitate the drug transfer, the captain of an Off-shore oil rig supply boat destroys it, thinking its occupants are in the boat, he wants to make sure they are on their way to the bottom of the Gulf. Once back at the pier in Galveston, Texas, in an attempt to recover the $1,000,000.00 paid for their efforts, the Central American dictator has his contacts in the US destroy the offshore oil rig supply boat, killing all on board. The boat’s captain survives, only to be killed a short time later and eventually buried in the soft sandy soil outside Galveston.

The two brothers, who were able to make it safely into Galveston, witness the dictator’s two henchmen's recovery of the dead captain and are able to find the money paid to the supply boat's crew. They use this money to help finance the rest of their trip, only to come across the submarine again. This time, they are able to alert the authorities and help prevent the escape of both the submarine and the dictator’s US-based crew.
