There are two sides to every story.
Patrick Egan is a successful horror novelist struggling to parent his seven-year-old daughter, while also going through a strained marriage on top of that. Those should be his biggest worries right now, but he is in for something worse.
One morning Patrick wakes up to find out that his once-best friend, Mike Fallon, has escaped from prison after being incarcerated for eleven years for murdering his brother, James, and attempting to murder Patrick himself. Watching Mike get put behind bars should have been the last time Patrick had ever seen him, but now he has to fight to save not only himself, but his family. Patrick knows Mike wants revenge, but what he doesn't know is that Mike has a few more tricks up his sleeve, for he has a story too.
Long before the public viewed him as a monster, Mike was just a kid who wanted a friend. And for a long time, Patrick was that friend. Until he wasn't. Leading up to that night, a new question arises: Is Patrick the innocent one?
