A poetry collection My Castle is compiled of one hundred and sixty-seven pages of poetry of a various nature. One poem per page. The overall theme of the text is mid-evil, but the poetry represents feelings and social commentary of both poet and his surroundings. The book is divided into two chapters or halves. The first half of the book is titled “My Castle”; and represents the internal struggle the author has faced after years of hardship, and the subsequent redemption through sobriety and writing poetry. The second chapter or half entitled “My Kingdom”, represents his stories and feelings on the society, people, and circumstances that have surrounded him. “My Castle”, represents the battle with the outside forces around the poet as an individual; as well as the conquer and triumphant victory over his life and emotions that he has found through writing. The first half is darker and reflective, the second is motivational and uplifting.
